Yolinda and the mid life crisis.

Yolinda was having an existential crisis and Deb was having none of it.

Yolinda had spent the last fortnight reclined over the lounge with her right arm flung over her eyes and moaning about the meaning of life.  She had to move.  Deb had not been able to Netflix binge for two weeks.

"Enough"! she said.

"But who am I"? moaned Yolinda.

"You know damn well who you are.  You are my other side, the more frivolous and rather annoying half of  me and you need to get off this couch"!

Deb received the death stare.

"Sorry, you're not so annoying, but you do need to move.  The couch is getting a permanent dent in it".

"But who am I"!!!!

"You are a mature woman".

"Nope, that's you".

"You are the mother of a teenage girl"

"Again - you"

"Devoted wife"

No response.

"You are a very popular receptionist"

"But that's just a job!  It's not ME!  Who am I"?!!

Deb took a breath, dug deep and bellowed "You are a wonderful multi-talented creature who is beloved by all who know you and most who haven't even met you!  You shine light on the darkest days, are a true goddess to all and could possibly heal the sick with one touch!  Now get off this couch and let me watch Dirk Gently before I brain you with the remote!!"

Yolinda blinked.

"NOOOOOWWWW!"

Yolinda moved.  Slowly (she was a little stiff after two weeks of dramatic reclining) and slouched out of the room.

Deb sighed, slid into the now dented couch and picked up the remote.  "Silly thing", she thought.  "Just because she is in her 50's and the daughter is almost grown up and she's devoted all these years to her upbringing and now life seems to be passing by and - oh".

Deb stared at the blank television.

"Who am I"?
