The path

When we last saw Yolinda she was on a bus feeling rather confused after two confusing encounters with two confused people.

Lost in thought for goodness knows how long, Yolinda suddenly came back to the present to find that the bus had arrived at it's last stop and it was time to disembark. She was by the sea.

Not knowing where to go next, she turned right and ambled along until she came to a path. She decided to follow it because that is what one does when one has no destination in mind and is looking at anything as a possible sign.

The path twisted, turned and climbed until eventually Yolinda found herself atop a cliff. She started to feel peckish and was wondering if she should have brought one of the tastless health bars when she saw something large make an enormous sploosh out at sea. It was a whale having a rather contented frolic.

"I wonder if whales have a purpose? I suppose to eat it's weight in krill and avoid harpoons", she mused. "Do animals need a sense of purpose apart from survival needs? Do they ever ponder the meaning of life and wonder why they are here?" She looked down and saw a rabbit under a bush pondering her. "Hello little one, do you ever ponder the practicalities of a pursuit for purpose?"

The rabbit stared at her for a few moments. It seemed to be thinking "For a species reputed to be endowed with higher thinking you use way too much alliteration". It then disappeared into the bush.

"Fair cop" said Yolinda. "Ask a stupid question...".

Her stomach complained and she decided it was time for lunch. She continued along the path wondering why chocolate didn't grow on trees.

To be continued...
