A Purposeful Search

Yolinda woke up one morning not so very long ago and realised she had lost her purpose.

It wasn't under the bed, it wasn't in the blankets although she did find a very chewed pigs ear and an old sock, which led to much consternation and yelling at the dog. Once she had gained her composure, and changed the sheets, she went into the kitchen to ask Deb.

"Have you seen my purpose?"

"No, what does it look like?"

"Well it's..... It looks like.... It's about the size of...."

Deb looked at her with that one upraised eyebrow look that Yolinda detested and went back to dismembering the coffee machine.

"Are you sure you had one to begin with?"

And with that one question Yolinda realised that she didn't. She didn't have a purpose. She suddenly felt lost, alone and lots of other words found in the thesaurus meaning lost and alone.

"Do you have a purpose?" she asked timidly.

"Yup, finding out what's jamming this bloody machine!"

Deb reached her arm out behind her and held her palm open expectantly.

"So - what happens when you fulfil this purpose? Do you have another one?" Yolinda asked, handing Deb a phillips head screwdriver and rubber mallet.

"Nope, just live for the moment me. Just go along with whatever the day brings."

"It's not exactly living a full life is it"

Deb pulled her head out of the inner workings of the coffee machine and glared at Yolinda. "Look, you're a creative and resourseful woman. Why don't you go off and either find our purpose or create one for us. Or you can help me with this thing. Just stop asking annoying questions".

Yolinda peered into the machine. "What's wrong with it?"

"There appears to be a pigs ear in it"

Yolinda looked incredously at the dog. It was clearly a genius at hiding it's snacks.

She sighed, sat at the table and opened her laptop.  Evidently she wasn't going to get any help with this.

She googled 'How to find your purpose'
